The sun-a-wear sensor has a small buffer. In this he can note the accumulated UV dose for a while and then communicate this to the app as soon as the smartphone is within range again. That means it doesn't matter if your sun-a-wear sensor is out of range. However, it is crucial for it to work that the sensor does not have to switch off in between due to a lack of energy.
Our sensor has no battery, you don't have to keep charging it. It draws its energy - how could it be otherwise - from the sun. But that also means that if it is completely covered for two to three minutes, for example, it switches itself off. Then he also forgets all measurements that have not been sent to your smartphone by then.
