Batteries take up space and can be dangerous in the heat. Our sensor is solar powered. Because the sun-a-wear technology works without a battery, we can offer a smaller and safer device.
The microprocessor in the sensor can also cumulate the UV dose locally if your phone is out of range for a while. As soon as it is in close proximity to your smartphone again, it sends the data, so that you always have an overview in the app.
The top of the sensor housing is made of a special material that provides good permeability for UV radiation and can withstand prolonged UV exposure. The milky structure ensures better measurements from different angles of sunlight.
A device that accompanies you in everyday life should of course not shy away from a few drops of water. In order to make the sensor as waterproof as possible, the upper and lower parts of the housing are welded together. This allows us to avoid adhesives with the sun-a-wear technology.
By using Bluetooth Low Energy technology, the sensor and the phone can communicate with each other without putting too much strain on the battery of your smartphone.
The software on the sensor has been optimized for extreme energy saving. This means that the sensor sleeps over 99.9 % of the time and only wakes up for a few milliseconds to measure the UV radiation and to send this data to the phone.
